Description:
Marion Mack plays Annabelle Lee in this silent comedy film. She is taken captive by Union troops stealing a train and Buster’s character must chase down the train to save his love interest. It’s a very good and funny movie although it is strange to watch a movie where the Confederates are the good guys. ????

«It's less clear cut than that; Buster, coming from vaudeville, was familiar with old theatrical traditions, in which good guys enter from the left and bad guys from the right. I tells you whom to cheer and whom to boo. If you watch the whole film, Union people enter from the left, Confederate from the right. The audience was equally familiar with this convention.
Buster's character is based on a real-life conductor (not an engineer) whose courage and dedication to duty were admired on both sides in the War Between the States. He most often appears in centre frame. He's an individual caught up in events he doesn't really care about except how they affect his relationship with Annabelle and his beloved locomotive. He is effectively neutral.»
«Buster Keaton was a genius.»
«got a copy of this film ! yet to watch it !!»
«Very fun movie! Though I agree it is weird the confederates were the good guys in this. Buster Keaton's stunts were awesome though!»
«True it was odd to see a film where the Confederates were the good guys, but this was in the early 1900's, America wasn't as racially tolerant as we are today (though it is still debatable if we are)»
