Starfleet Lt. Mara pursues a space renegade to his hideout. She locates the fugitive, but he turns out to be more formidable that she expects. He is wearing a face mask that gives him special powers. He knocks away her phaser. She tries to fight him hand-to-hand, but he places her in a powerful reverse bearhug and knocks her out! She wakes up with her wrists bound by a rope. She unties the rope, but the renegade grabs her and knocks her out again, this time with a sleeper hold. When she awakens this time, she sabotages her tricorder, which temporarily stuns the fugitive. She grabs her phaser and tries to shoot him, but he grabs her weapon and a struggle ensues. He uses his powers to deliver a fiery blast to Mara's face, knocking her to the ground yet again. The fugitive walks over to pick up Mara's phaser pistol, not realizing that the phaser itself is on the ground next to Mara. Mara wakes up, grabs the small phaser and fires at the renegade, vaporizing him and ending the battle!
